Schools in UP to remain closed on Mauni Amavasya in these districts

With the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, authorities have announced holidays for schools in several districts due to the anticipated large crowds for the Mauni Amavasya Snan on January 29, 2025. This day holds significant religious importance, as it is considered auspicious for performing rituals like Shradh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan to seek relief from Pitra Dosha.

To manage the influx of pilgrims and ensure public safety, district administrations have issued closure orders for schools. Here are the key updates:

Prayagraj Schools

The second Amrit Snan of the Mahakumbh is expected to draw millions of devotees to the Sangam. To prevent inconvenience and ensure smooth crowd management, all schools up to Class 8 in Prayagraj will remain closed until January 30, 2025. Additionally, schools up to Class 8 in urban areas will remain shut until February 3, 2025, as per the orders of Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Praveen Kumar Tiwari.

Ayodhya Schools

In Ayodhya, schools will remain closed due to the combined celebrations of Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami, as well as the surge in pilgrims visiting the city after the Mahakumbh. All schools, including those up to Class 12, in Ayodhya Dham and adjoining blocks, will remain shut until February 5, 2025, as per District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh's directive.

Varanasi Schools

Varanasi has also implemented school closures due to the returning crowds from Prayagraj after the Mahakumbh. All schools up to Class 12 will remain closed until February 5, 2025, as per an official notification from the District Magistrate. The holidays are part of measures to manage the massive gatherings expected during this religious festival. Pilgrims from across the country are set to take a holy dip in the Sangam on Mauni Amavasya, making it one of the largest events of the Mahakumbh.

For further updates, parents and students are advised to check notifications from their respective district authorities.
