A wave of bomb threats targeting prominent private schools caused significant disruption and security alerts in Chandigarh and Gurugram on Wednesday morning. Multiple institutions received threatening emails, prompting immediate large-scale responses from police, bomb disposal squads, and disaster response teams.

Chandigarh Schools on High Alert

In Chandigarh, at least four major private schools, including the well-known Chitkara International School in Sector 25 and another institution in Sector 45, were affected. Authorities swiftly mobilized senior officials from the operations cell and rescue teams to the locations.

As a precautionary measure, entry to all threatened schools was completely sealed off. Police established barricades around the premises to control access and ensure public safety.

Simultaneous Threats in Gurugram

Simultaneously, a similar situation unfolded in Gurugram, where several elite schools reported receiving bomb threat emails. The affected institutions include:

  • Kunskapsskolan School, DLF Phase-1
  • Lancers International School, Sector 53
  • Heritage Experiential Learning School, Sector 64
  • Pathways World School, Aravali, Badshahpur

The threats arrived during the morning rush hour as students were arriving for the day. School administrations and local police acted quickly to evacuate the buildings and prevent further entry. Students were seen waiting in safe areas outside as security protocols were activated.

A multi-agency security operation is currently in progress across both cities. In Gurugram, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have joined police and bomb detection and disposal squads in conducting thorough searches of the school premises.

School managements proactively communicated with parents via messages, advising them not to send their children and updating them on the situation. However, as the threats coincided with the start of the school day, many students were already en route and had to be managed at the scene.

As of the latest reports, no suspicious items or explosives have been found in any of the searched schools. The search operations are methodically continuing.

Police authorities in both Union Territory of Chandigarh and Haryana (Gurugram) have registered cases and initiated investigations to trace the origin of the threatening emails. Cybersecurity experts are being engaged to analyze the digital trail. The nature of the emails and the possibility of a coordinated hoax are key lines of inquiry.
