MPSC State Services Exam Postponed: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has decided to postpone the State Services Exam after facing protests and pressure from students and political leaders.
The issue started when MPSC scheduled its State Services Prelims Exam on the same day as the IBPS Banking Exam. This forced many students to choose between the two exams, leading to widespread anger and protests.
Students began protesting in Pune on Tuesday night, upset about the overlapping exam dates. Their protests grew larger as political leaders, including those from the Mahavikas Aghadi, joined in. Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, asked the MPSC Chairman to listen to the students' concerns.
Under increasing pressure, MPSC held a meeting on Thursday and decided to postpone the State Services Exam. A new date for the exam will be announced later.
Political leaders who supported the students included Supriya Sule and Rohit Pawar from the NCP, and Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar. Rohit Pawar actively took part in the protests. NCP President Sharad Pawar also warned of further action if the Commission did not address the students' issues.
The main concern for students was the risk of missing one of the exams due to the conflicting dates. While the IBPS exam date had been set for months, MPSC had changed the State Services Exam date multiple times, causing problems for many students.
