In a significant relief for students appearing for the Intermediate Annual Examinations 2025, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced a temporary relaxation in the dress code. Due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, students will be allowed to wear shoes and socks while entering the examination hall for the exams scheduled between February 1st and 5th, 2025.
This decision comes after the BSEB had previously mandated a strict prohibition on footwear inside the examination hall, citing guidelines issued in December 2024. However, considering the students' well-being in the face of the biting cold, the board has made a compassionate exception.

The relaxation is temporary, though. The BSEB has stated that the situation will be reviewed after February 5th, and a decision on whether to continue the allowance or revert to the original dress code will be made based on the weather conditions at that time.
This move by the BSEB has been welcomed by students and parents alike, who expressed relief that the board had taken their concerns into consideration.
"It's a sensible decision," said a parent. "Asking students to sit for exams in such cold weather without proper footwear would have been very difficult."
The Intermediate Annual Examinations are scheduled to be conducted across various centers in Bihar from February 1 to 15, 2025. The BSEB has urged all students to adhere to the other exam guidelines and reach their respective centers on time.
