Company History - Suprajit Engineering
COMPANY, MANAGEMENT AND PROJECT BRIEF HISTORY/PRESENT BUSINESS OF THE
 COMPANY
 
 SEL was incorporated on 24.5.1985 as a Private Limited company and
 was converted into Public Limited company on 15.06.1995. The
 Registered office of the Company is at plot No.100, Bommasandra
 Industrial Area, Anekal Taluk  Bangalore - 562 158, Karnataka.  The
 Company established a
 small scale industrial unit in 1987 for manufacture of cables for the
 Japanese automobile manufacturers in India with financial assistance
 from Karnataka State Financial Corporation - Bangalore and in
 technical collaboration with Toh Fon Machine Company Limited (TFMCL)
 - Taiwan, the
 largest suppliers of cables to original equipment manufacturers such
 as Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda etc.,
 
 This was conceived in the background of large number of Japanese
 automobile manufacturers setting up joint ventures in India to
 manufacture fuel efficient, International quality two wheelers in
 India. Today, the Company is one of the of the major suppliers to the
 Original Equipment Manufacturers viz., TVS Suzuki Limited, Hero Honda
 Motors
 Limited, Escorts Automotives Limited- (Yamaha Motor Cycle Division),
 Kinetic Honda Motors Limited, RHW India Limited and Whirlpool Washing
 Machines Limited (formerly TVS Whirlpool Ltd). The Company also
 distributes its products in the replacement market through reputed
 distributors viz., TVS & Sons Limited, Madras Auto Service and
 Sundaram
 Motors. The Company's products are very well established with OEMs
 conforming to their quality standards. To meet the continued
 increased requirement of the customers, the Company during the year
 increased the capacity from 24 lakh cables (36 lakhs on 3 shift
 basis) to 36 lakh cables (54 Iakh cables on a 3 shift basis) the cost
 of which was met
 by contribution from the promoters and their group.  The Company is
 successfully managed and has been earning profits since inception and
 declared dividends continuously. The Company has been rated AAA
 (highest
 internal credit rating) by Karnataka State Financial Corporation.
 
 This is the only Company to have equity participation by  TVS Suzuki
 Ltd. to the extent of 3.6% of the present paid up equity.
 
  2000 - The Company has floated a joint venture with Winner Computer
        Services called Suprawin Technologies.
 
 2003
 
 -The Hon. High Court of Karnataka has approved the scheme of
 Amalgamation of Shah Concabs Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary.
 
 -Suprajit Engineering's Units at Bangalore and Manesar awarded
 International Quality Certification
 
 2004
 
 -De-listing of the equity shares from the stock exchanges at
 Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
 
 -The company's state-of-the-art automotive cable plant at Chakan,
 Pune was inaugurated on March 18, 2004 by Shri Rajiv Bajaj, Joint
 Managing Director, Bajaj Auto Ltd.
 
 2004
 
 - Enters into MoU with Carclo PLC - UK based major Company, to setup
 a Joint Venture to manufacture Automotive Cables in India for the
 European Union.
 
 
 2005
 
 - Suprajit Engineering Ltd has declared an interim dividend of 20 per
 cent.
 
 - The Company has received for the first time a non-automotive cable
 order from Textron USA.
 
 - The Company has started dispatching cables to Piaggio, Italy.
 
 
 2006
 
 - Declared an Interim Dividend of 20% on the Fully Paid Equity Shares
 of the Company.
 
 - CTP Suprajit Automotive Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 Joint Venture Company with
 Carclo Plc, U.K., a 100% EOU for export of cables to European markets
 has started trial run of plant.
 
 - The Company has received an initial order for supply of cables to
 North America by Lear Corporation.
 
 - The number of cables despatched for the year was 41 million, as
 against 32 million of the previous year.
 
 
 2007
 
 - Has declared an Interim Dividend of 20% on the Fully Paid Equity
 Shares of the Company.
 
 - MoU signed with Michang Cables Korea - a well-known cable, shifter
 and gas spring manufacturer for long-term logistics and co-operative
 manufacturing programme.
 
 - The new plant at Pantnagar, Uttaranchal for cables is expected to
 start commercial production by April.
 
 
 2008
 
 - Has declared an Interim Dividend of 20% on the Fully Paid Equity
 Shares of the Company.
 
 - The Company's new Plant at Singur will manufacture and supply
 Automotive Cables for Tata Small Cars.
 
 - Suprajit Engineering Ltd has informed that the Companys new Export
 Oriented Unit to manufacture non-automotive cables for exports has
 started trial production.
 
 
 2009
 
 - Declared an Interim Dividend of 20% on the Fully Paid Equity Shares
 of the Company for the year.
 
 - Company announces its ground breaking ceremony was held for a
 full-fledged state-of-the-art automotive cable plant at Haridwar to
 support its major customers.
 
 
 2010
 
 - Company has started trial production in its State of the Art
 manufacturing facility at Haridwar.
 
 - Split existing equity shares of Rs. 5/- each into 5 equity shares
 of Re. 1/ each and entitlement of Bonus Shares in the ratio of 1:1.
 
 - Company has started cable operations at the recently acquired plant
 in Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bangalore.
 
 - Ground breaking ceremony was held for a new cable plant for 4
 wheelers at Chakan, Pune.
 
 -Suprajit Engineering has given the Bonus in the Ratio of 1:1
 
 -Company has splits its Face value of Shares from Rs 5 to Re 1
 
 2011
 
 - Declared an Interim dividend of 20% (Re. 0.20 Per Share of Re. 1/-
 each) for the year.
 
 - A groundbreaking ceremony was performed on December 01, 2011 for a
 new automotive cable plant at Suprajit Automotive Limited, 100% EOU
 at Bangalore. 
 
 
 2012
 
 - The Company has successfully implemented a new Automotive Cable
 manufacturing plant at Plot No. #189/A,189B, Bommasandra Industrial
 Area, Bangalore and commenced the trial production.
 
 - Dr. C. Mohan, erstwhile President of the Company into the Board as
 Executive Director.
 
 2013
 
 -The company has received Supplier Quality Excellence Award from
 General Motors.
 -Suprajit Engineering Ltd  has started commercial production at its
 new cable plant in Pathredi.
 
 2014
 
 -Suprajit acquired Speedo Cable business from PRICOL.
 
 2015
 - Suprajit Enginee Acquired Phoenix Lamps Limited
