The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the T20 semi-final match between India and England scheduled to take place on Thursday evening at Wankhede Stadium. Authorities have warned of possible traffic congestion in and around the Marine Drive area due to the large number of spectators expected for the high-profile match.
The game is set to begin at 7 pm, while stadium gates will open for spectators from 4 pm onwards. In a post on X, the Mumbai Traffic Police urged people travelling to the area to plan their journey in advance and consider using alternate routes to avoid delays.
Officials have also encouraged cricket fans to use public transport to reduce traffic pressure near the stadium. Spectators have been advised to travel via the Western Railway network and get down at Churchgate or Marine Lines railway stations. Fans can also use Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) and get down at Churchgate Metro Station to reach the venue.
To manage crowd movement better, the police issued a gate-wise travel advisory. Spectators entering through Gates 1, 2, and 7 have been advised to use Churchgate Railway Station or Churchgate Metro Station and approach the stadium via E Road.
Those heading to Gates 3 and 4 can access the venue through the Marine Lines railway station foot overbridge near the Roopkala showroom on Maharshi Karve Road.
Fans entering through Gates 5 and 6 can reach via Churchgate Railway Station or the Churchgate Metro Station foot overbridge located opposite the Income Tax Office on Maharshi Karve Road.
Police officials said cooperation from the public will help ensure smooth traffic movement in the area. The winner of Thursday’s match will face New Zealand in the final on Sunday.
