A government-employed ayurvedic practitioner has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly using his sports utility vehicle (SUV) to deliberately run over a delivery executive at least four times in a late-night road rage incident in Gurugram, police confirmed on Monday.
The brutal assault, captured on closed-circuit television and mobile phone footage, has prompted outrage and accusations of initial police inaction from the victim’s colleagues.

The accused, identified as 41-year-old Navin Yadav, who is posted at a government primary health centre in Daultabad, was arrested on Monday evening. The victim is 43-year-old Tinku Pawar, a delivery executive for an online commerce platform who resides in Hayatpur, Gurugram.
According to police accounts of the incident, the confrontation erupted between 11.30 pm and 11.45 pm on Sunday in a narrow alley in Sector 93. The location is a known pickup point for delivery personnel. Senior officers stated that Yadav’s Mahindra Scorpio first struck Pawar’s parked motorcycle.
Hearing the noise, Pawar and several other executives emerged from a warehouse and raised an alarm. As the group attempted to intervene, Yadav allegedly reversed his vehicle suddenly, knocking Pawar off his feet and hitting others.
The situation then escalated horrifically. Footage of the incident, which has circulated on social media, shows the SUV reversing over Pawar’s body, moving forward and then reversing over him again in a repeated manoeuvre.
The victim’s 18-year-old son, Sunny Pawar, recounted the harrowing details, stating that after his father fell, the driver drove forward over him, only to reverse again. He claimed this happened at least four times, leaving his father with severe injuries and multiple fractures in his left leg. He added that his father screamed in pain while the driver allegedly left the scene for his residence, located merely 200 metres away.
Colleagues alerted the family and Pawar was rushed to a private hospital in Rewari. Doctors have advised that he will require surgery for his injuries.
The perceived delay in arresting the accused led to a protest on Monday morning. Dozens of delivery executives gathered at the Sector 93 police post, demanding immediate action.
Gurugram police spokesman Sandeep Turan provided further context, alleging that Yadav had been irritated by motorcycles parked in the lane and had argued with delivery executives over the issue previously.
On Sunday night, upon seeing the parked vehicles again, he allegedly lost his temper and rammed them. When the executives protested, Turan stated, Yadav then drove the Scorpio over them.
Yadav has been arrested and his vehicle seized. Based on the victim’s statement, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 10 police station. The investigation is ongoing.
