A Gurugram-based businessman who was severely injured in a hit-and-run in DLF Phase 2 on Wednesday has succumbed to his injuries. The victim, 58-year-old Amitabh Jain, was cycling in the morning when a Hyundai Santro rammed into him from behind. The impact left him critically injured, and the driver fled immediately.
According to a report by NDTV, CCTV cameras in the vicinity recorded the incident. The footage shows Jain cycling around 7.15 am in the left lane, with the Santro trailing behind him. The road appears mostly empty, and it remains unclear why the car did not simply overtake him.
Police registered a case shortly after the accident, and with Jain’s death, additional charges are likely to be added.

Investigators were quoted by the channel as saying that the CCTV footage enabled them to retrieve the vehicle’s registration number, helping identify its owner. Police visited the address listed in the records but did not find the car or its owner. A manhunt is now underway to trace both.
As per the report, authorities are also examining whether the hit-and-run may have been a targeted attack stemming from personal enmity.
