A 12-year-old boy in Bihar’s Purnea district woke up to a scene of horror as his mother allegedly attacked his father with a sharp weapon, splashing blood onto his face. The chilling incident, reported by NDTV, has left the village in shock, with the woman later confessing to the murder.
Shailendra, the couple’s son, described the gruesome moment. "At around 10:30, the blood came splashing down on my face. I saw my mother hitting my father's neck," he told was quoted by NDTV. The weapon used, a dabiya (a tool resembling a garden knife), inflicted fatal wounds on his father, Balo Das, 45.
Usha Devi, 35, allegedly threatened her son to stay silent or face the same fate. The boy waited until morning before fleeing to his aunt’s house to raise the alarm. Villagers then informed the police.
Das, a labourer working in Punjab, had returned to Purnea after discovering his wife had sold their land without his knowledge. The sale, reportedly influenced by her lover, sparked frequent clashes between the couple.
While Das was away earning for the family, Usha Devi had begun a relationship with another villager, NDTV reported. She allegedly sold the land at his urging and planned to elope until her husband’s return disrupted the plot.
"Mother killed father under someone's influence. Whereas my father never beat her," Shailendra said, revealing the tragic betrayal, NDTV cited.
Police have taken Usha Devi into custody as investigations continue. The case has sent ripples through the rural community, highlighting a brutal crime witnessed by a child now left orphaned by his mother’s actions.
