With air quality continuing to deteriorate across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), the Gurugram district administration has advised private institutions and corporate offices to allow employees to work from home starting December 22, 2025, until further orders.
The advisory comes after the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) enforced Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR.
CAQM invoked GRAP Stage IV through an order dated December 13, directing state governments and local administrations to implement stricter controls to curb pollution. Under these guidelines, governments may allow offices to operate at 50% staff strength, with the remaining employees working from home.

Following these directions, the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner advised all private offices, including corporate establishments, to adopt work-from-home arrangements wherever possible. Officials said this step is expected to reduce traffic on roads and lower vehicle emissions, one of the major contributors to air pollution in the region.
The administration also appealed to employers and employees to cooperate fully and follow pollution-control measures in the larger public interest.
Gurugram govt office timings revised
Along with the advisory for private offices, the district administration has revised the working hours of government offices in Gurugram during the GRAP Stage IV period.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar ordered staggered timings for all state government offices and urban local bodies to reduce congestion during peak hours. According to the revised schedule:
• State government offices in Gurugram will function from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
• Offices under the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) will operate from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
• The same timings, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, will apply to the Sohna Municipal Council, Pataudi Mandi Municipal Council, and Farrukhnagar Municipal Committee
Measures to stay until further notice
The district administration said these revised timings and advisories will remain in force for the duration of GRAP Stage IV. Officials stressed that coordinated action by government offices, private institutions and the public is essential to improve air quality in Gurugram and the wider NCR.
Authorities also urged residents to limit outdoor activities, use public transport where possible, and follow health advisories as pollution levels remain high.
