A 25-year-old airline hostess died after falling ill during a weekend gathering at a friend’s rented apartment in DLF Phase-1, Gurugram on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Simran Dadwal, a resident of Mohali in Punjab, who was working with an Indian airline for the past two years. She was living in Delhi and had come to Gurugram on Saturday to meet her friends, officials said.
According to the police, Dadwal attended a party at the apartment on Saturday night. In the early hours of Sunday, around 5 am, she allegedly developed severe breathing difficulties. Her friends immediately rushed her to a nearby private hospital for treatment, Hindustan Times reported.
However, doctors declared her dead during treatment, officials said. The hospital staff informed the police about the incident soon after her death.
A police team from the DLF Phase-1 police station reached the hospital and later visited the apartment where the party was held. The body was shifted to a local mortuary for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police said Dadwal’s parents were informed about the incident and they arrived in Gurugram on Sunday. The family demanded a post-mortem examination to rule out any suspicious circumstances surrounding her sudden death.
At present, the police have not received any complaint or allegation of foul play. No criminal case has been registered so far. Officials said statements of Dadwal’s friends who were present at the apartment are being recorded to understand the sequence of events that led to the medical emergency.
A senior police officer said further action would be taken after the post-mortem report is received. “We are waiting for the autopsy report before drawing any conclusions,” the officer said.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of the young airline professional.
