Anthropic is adding a new visual layer to its Claude AI assistant, introducing the ability to generate interactive charts, graphs and diagrams directly within chat responses.

The feature, currently available in beta, aims to make complex answers easier to understand by presenting information visually rather than relying solely on text.

In a demo shared by the company, Claude responds to questions with dynamic visuals that appear instantly inside the conversation. In one example, a simple question produces a short text answer followed by an interactive idea map packed with information nodes and dropdown sections that reveal more details.

Another demonstration shows Claude explaining structural weight distribution using a detailed chart with directional indicators and a legend, making the concept easier to grasp at a glance.

Anthropic says the visuals are designed to update in real time as conversations evolve. As users ask follow-up questions or add new information, Claude can adjust the charts and diagrams accordingly.

Some of the visuals will also be interactive. Users can click on sections of charts or graphs to reveal underlying data or additional explanations, effectively turning the response into an exploratory interface rather than a static answer.

The update builds on Anthropic’s broader push toward format-specific responses, where Claude adapts the structure of its output depending on the task. For instance, recipe queries can already produce structured step-by-step layouts designed for easier reading.

With the new visual responses, Anthropic appears to be tackling a common limitation of AI assistants: while they can process complex questions, their answers are often presented as long blocks of text.

By introducing charts, diagrams and visual maps that generate instantly inside conversations, the company is aiming to make those answers more intuitive and easier to navigate.

Anthropic says the feature is available across all Claude plan tiers, though it is currently being rolled out as a beta.
