HDFC Bank downtime on 10 January: NetBanking, app, UPI services to be unavailable

HDFC Bank has informed its customers that it will carry out scheduled system maintenance in the early hours of January 10, 2026, which will temporarily disrupt several digital banking services.

In an email to customers, the private lender said, “To enhance your banking experience, we are undergoing essential system maintenance on 10th January 2026, 02:30 AM – 06:30 AM IST (4 Hours).”

During this maintenance window, key services on HDFC Bank’s NetBanking platform and mobile app will remain unavailable. These include access to accounts and deposits, fund transfers through UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS and intra-bank transfers, online payments, and other account-related transactions.

The bank, however, clarified that customers can continue to make payments and transfer money using the PayZapp Wallet during the downtime.

In another related development, HDFC Bank announced that it has integrated the Reserve Bank of India’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), or Digital Rupee, into its online merchant payment platform, SmartGateway. The move allows merchants using SmartGateway to offer customers a sovereign-backed digital payment option at zero transaction cost within HDFC Bank’s checkout system.

“This integration enables merchants to offer customers a secure, zero-cost, and sovereign-backed digital payment option within the HDFC Bank checkout ecosystem,” the lender said in a statement.

With the new feature, SmartGateway merchants can now accept payments through the Digital Rupee alongside existing options such as UPI, cards and net banking. The bank said customers will benefit from an instant and secure digital payment experience, while merchants gain an additional cost-free payment mode to serve their users.
