Mercedes-Benz India has issued a recall of 30 units of the S-Class (including Maybach S-Class), AMG SL 55, GLC and EQS sedan over a potential fire risk.
Among the recalled models, there are nine units of the S-Class, two units of the AMG SL 55, three units of the GLC and 16 units of the EQS sedan, according to official details from the industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
"In the process, it has been identified that the fuse boxes might not have been reworked correctly. As a result, systems connected to the fuse might fail and the vehicle might lose its propulsion without prior warning, and the restraint functions or the instrument cluster might also be impaired; increasing the risk of a crash and injuries," an official communication from SIAM said.
"Under such specific circumstances, a potential risk of thermal incident in the vehicle cannot be excluded," it added.
All nine recalled units of the S-Class were petrol versions, manufactured between June 22, 2023, and March 20, 2024. The two recalled AMG SL 55 units were manufactured between July 5, 2023, and August 28, 2023.
The GLC had a mix of petrol and diesel versions among the three recalled units, and they were manufactured between September 9, 2023, and December 4, 2023.
The 16 units of the EQS sedan that were recalled were manufactured between July 19, 2023, and April 8, 2024. The EQS sedan is one of the most popular electric models of Mercedes.
Earlier this year, Mercedes issued recalls in January, February and March impacting 2,782 units of various models, including top-sellers like the GLC, C-Class, E-Class and S-Class.
