Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today reported its best-ever first quarter performance, retailing 4,238 units at a growth of 10% year-on-year (y-o-y) in Q1 FY26, amid a robust demand for core and top-end luxury vehicles.
The top-end luxury battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio also witnessed a strong acceleration, increasing its penetration in the overall volume.
According to the carmaker, the record sales were achieved despite challenges, including foreign exchange fluctuations, price hikes and market dynamics. There were pricing challenges in the entry luxury segment as well.
The core segment, comprising the C-Class and the E-Class LWB sedans, and the GLC and the GLE SUVs, contributed 60% to the volume with a growth of 10% y-o-y in Q1 FY26.
The E-Class LWB, buoyed by the addition of the E450 performance variant, emerged as the highest-selling luxury car in India during the quarter, the company claimed.
The top-end luxury segment, including the likes of the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS product range and the AMG range of performance vehicles, registered a growth of 20% y-o-y in volume. Although the entry luxury portfolio marginally declined in Q1 FY26, the carmaker did not share the quantum of the drop.
The BEV portfolio of Mercedes-Benz clocked a growth of 157% y-o-y in volume in Q1 FY26, even increasing its share in the overall sales to 8%. Among the volume drivers were the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach Night Series and G 580 SUV with EQ Technology.
"The waiting period for the EQS Maybach and G 580 with EQ Technology extends up to six months," the carmaker said.
Mercedes-Benz also launched the GLS AMG Line SUV, further strengthening its line-up. It is available in a couple of variants, with the GLS 450 AMG Line priced at Rs 1.4 crore (ex-showroom) and the GLS 450d AMG Line available for Rs 1.43 crore (ex-showroom).
