The Carens Clavis EV is Kia's first mass-market electric model.


The Carens Clavis EV, Kia's maiden locally-manufactured all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), has finally arrived. Like every other Kia car, the Carens Clavis EV is also loaded to the gills with features. With its price starting at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model has a lot to offer, not only in terms of features but also battery packs, impressive range, and charging capabilities. Let us discuss all aspects of the Carens Clavis EV in more detail.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Variants & Pricing


The Carens Clavis is available in three trims and four variants. The following are their ex-showroom prices.

HTK+ Standard Range 42 kWh battery – Rs 17.99 lakh

HTX Standard Range 42 kWh battery – Rs 20.49 lakh

HTX Extended Range 51.4 kWh battery – Rs 22.49 lakh

HTX+ Extended Range 51.4 kWh battery – Rs 24.49 lakh

Kia Carens Clavis EV Powertrain & Performance


By the variants, you would have already made out that the Carens Clavis EV has two battery pack options -- 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. These two battery packs are offered with the Hyundai Creta Electric as well.

The Carens Clavis EV Standard Range with 42 kWh battery gets a 135 PS/255 Nm motor. On the other hand, the Carens Clavis EV Extended Range with 51.4 kWh battery employs a more powerful 171 PS/255 Nm motor. The EVs are relatively quicker than their petrol and diesel counterparts. The Extended Range model can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in approximately 8.4 seconds.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Range & Charging


The ARAI-certified range on a single full charge is approximately 404 km for the Standard Range version and 490 km for the Extended Range version. The real-world range is usually lower than the ARAI-certified range.

The Carens Clavis EV supports 7.4 kW and 11 kW AC charging. It can also be fast-charged from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes with a 100 kW DC charger.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Features


The Koreans, be it Kia or Hyundai, are known to introduce feature-rich models. All Kia cars, from the Syros to the Sonet and the Seltos, boast multiple segment-first and segment-best features. The Carens Clavis EV is not far behind.

The Carens Clavis EV retains functional parity with its ICE counterpart while integrating EV-specific enhancements like front fascia with active aero flaps, ice-cube-style LED fog lamps and star map LED DRLs, relocated front charging port and a 25‑litre front trunk (frunk). The interior boasts dual 12.25‑inch panoramic displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, * ADAS Level 2 suite featuring 20 autonomous safety systems, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, and a Bose 8‑speaker audio system. It also supports the vehicle‑to‑load (V2L) feature. The safety suite includes six airbags and an 18-point structural package.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Warranty & Ecosystem


Kia provides an 8‑year or 1.60 lakh km warranty on the battery system. Nationwide support is structured across more than 250 EV‑ready workshops and over 100 fast‑charging-enabled dealerships.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Rivals


The Kia Carens Clavis EV has just one direct rival, which is the BYD eMax 7. However, the BYD eMax 7 is pricier, sitting in the range of Rs 26.90 lakh to Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom), with a bigger battery (71.8 kWh) and higher range (530 km).
