Surya Grahan (Solar Eclipse) 2026: Solar Eclipse 2026 will be an important celestial event, drawing attention for its Sutak period, religious significance, and its impact on zodiac signs. People are keen to know when the solar eclipses will occur, where they will be visible, whether they will be total or annular and how they will influence spiritual practices and daily life.

How Many Solar Eclipses in 2026?

There will be two solar eclipses in 2026. The first will be a Total Solar Eclipse, while the second will be an Annular Solar Eclipse.

First Solar Eclipse of 2026

The first Surya Grahan of 2026 will take place on Tuesday, 17 February 2026. It will be a total solar eclipse, but it will not be visible in India. Due to its invisibility in India, the Sutak period will not be considered effective, and it will not hold religious influence for Indian regions.

Second Solar Eclipse of 2026

The second Surya Grahan 2026 will occur on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. This will be an Annular Solar Eclipse (Kankanakriti Surya Grahan). It will occur in Virgo zodiac sign and in Hasta Nakshatra. During this eclipse, the Sun will be accompanied by the Moon, Mercury, and Ketu, while Jupiter and Mars will cast strong influence. Venus will be positioned in the second house from the Sun and retrograde Saturn will be in the sixth house. This eclipse is considered particularly significant for those born under Virgo and Hasta Nakshatra natives.

Sutak Period of Surya Grahan 2026

The Sutak period begins 12 hours before the solar eclipse. During this time, auspicious activities should be avoided. The Sutak period continues until the eclipse ends. However, in places where the eclipse is not visible, the Sutak period is not applicable, and daily activities can continue as normal.

Solar Eclipse 2026: Spiritual Guidelines

During Surya Grahan 2026, it is advised to engage in worship, meditation, and chanting of mantras. Devotees may worship Lord Surya or Lord Shiva. Pregnant women and individuals suffering from health concerns should avoid viewing the eclipse. Chanting during this period is considered highly rewarding spiritually.

What to Do During the Eclipse

  • Engage in bhajan, kirtan, meditation, and mantra chanting
  • Chant the mantras of your Ishta Devata or family deity
  • After the eclipse ends, take a bath and sprinkle Ganga water at home
  • Before the Sutak begins, place Tulsi leaves in milk, curd, pickles, and other food items

Though Surya Grahan and Chandra Grahan are astronomical events, they hold deep religious, cultural, and spiritual importance. Surya Grahan 2026 will guide devotees toward discipline, awareness, and faith, while also marking significant celestial movements influencing zodiac energies.
