Nagpur, Feb 14 (PTI) Union Minister of State for Defence, Pallam Raju has called upon probationers of the Indian Ordnance Factories Services (IOFS) here to prepare themselves to face challenges of modernisation and increased competence in the field. "Ordnance Factories are in the phase of growth, modernisation and transition. Our country is now having global interests and presence. In this scenario, the role of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) becomes paramount. The probationers are now expected to utilise the experience and insight gained during their training," he said. Raju was speaking yesterday at the valedictory function of 57 probationers belonging to IOFS here. "We should not be happy just with the product ionisation of volumes, our strength should be the reliability of our products. Quality has to be kept supreme in mind," he added. The probationers passed out after the completion of 64 weeks of training. Principal K T Mohanan, and S D Dimri, Director General and Chairman, OFB also addressed the gathering. Dimri said the tryst of the probationers with the organisation has begun with their valediction. "We are set to cross production value of Rs 12,000-crore in this fiscal year. Our aim should be to cross one lakh crore during the 12th plan," he said. "Army being our largest indenter, we have to keep our selves abreast and regular interaction at all levels. Our young officers have been groomed for this and we look forward to them to carry this onerous task," he added, according to a release from the Defence PRO.
