There is a great news in store for Nokia fans who were reluctant to buy the Nokia 3310 due to the glacial speed of 2.5 G networks.

In a bid to join the fold of smart feature-phone with fast internet, HMD Global, the marketer for Nokia phones has decided to roll out the Nokia  3310, the refreshed version of the Nokia classic phone in a new avatar with a 3G connection in global markets.

The Nokia 3310 while being a Nokia classic also has the looks of the previous Nokia phones and is designed to appeal to the loyal Nokia fans.

With its 3G launch, Nokia is set to compete with the Reliance JioPhone and Airtel and Vodafone’s upcoming feature phones.

Apart from the 3G connection, the user interface for the 3310 has been tweaked, the UI has been improved, enabling users to change the colour and the position of the icons.

Two new colour options have also been introduced that include Azure and Charcoal which are alongside the already existing Yellow and Warm Red colours retained form the Nokia 3310’s 2.5G version.

The Nokia 3310 now has more spacing between the buttons which the company claims helps users dial, text and tweet more comfortably.

Commenting on its legendary battery life legacy, Nokia claims that even after running with a 3G feature, the phone will have an impressive standby time of 27 days and talk time of 6.5 hours.

In a dose of pure Nokia nostalgia, the Nokia 3310 also comes with a refreshed version of the Snake game.

Price and Availability

The Nokia 3310 3G will be going on sale in Australia from October 16 onwards for AUD 89.95 (Approx Rs 4,607).

Globally the Nokia 3310 will be made available at EUR 69 (Approx Rs 5,323) sometime around mid-October.

Details of an Indian release have not been divulged by the company but it is expected that the device will be launched soon in India.

HMD Global CEO Mark Trundle has also confirmed that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will be getting the Android Oreo update by the end of 2017.
