'Won't take Asim Munir's name if...': Aleema Khan 'offers deal' to Pakistani govt to save Imran Khan’s eyesight

Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan offered a truce with Pakistan’s government, demanding urgent medical care and family access for Khan, whose health is deteriorating in jail. She alleges neglect and conspiracy, citing irreversible vision damage.

Growing concerns over the deteriorating health of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan have triggered an extraordinary public offer from his sister Aleema Khan, who has proposed a conditional truce with the Shehbaz Sharif-led government in exchange for proper medical treatment for her brother.

According to information accessed by CNN-News18, Aleema Khan said she was prepared to stop publicly naming Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir if authorities allow the family to meet Imran Khan and ensure he receives urgent medical care.

“I am offering them a deal today. They arrange our meeting with Imran Khan and get him treated, we won’t take anyone’s name,” she said.

Demand for hospital transfer

Aleema Khan specifically called for Imran Khan to be shifted out of jail and into a private medical facility under family supervision.

“Transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad and have him treated in our presence. In return, we won’t take your name,” she said, addressing General Munir directly.

She said the family’s most immediate concern was Khan’s eyesight, which she claimed has deteriorated sharply in custody.

“We only want to try to save Imran Khan’s eye,” she said, adding that once he is granted bail, the family plans to move him to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre for further treatment.

Allegations of neglect and broken promises

Aleema Khan accused the Pakistani authorities of deliberately delaying or denying medical care. She alleged that earlier assurances from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to shift Khan to hospital were never honoured.

“When party people were calling me that Mohsin Naqvi was guaranteeing that Imran Khan would be taken to Al-Shifa International Hospital, I told them then that he was lying and it was proven that Naqvi was lying,” she said.

She also questioned why Khan’s personal doctors were not being allowed to examine him.

“If Imran Khan is not being poisoned, why is he afraid that we will conduct a blood test?” she asked.

Earlier this week, the Khan family rejected medical assessments conducted by government-appointed doctors and insisted that Khan be examined only by his personal physicians, Dr Asim Yusuf and Dr Faisal, with family members present.

“It is extremely concerning and unacceptable that the government is resisting the presence of Imran Khan’s personal doctor and family representative during his examination and treatment,” Aleema Khan said in a statement.

She added that without the physical presence of both Dr Asim Yusuf and family representative Dr Nausherwan Burki, the family would “categorically reject any claims made by the government regarding his examination, treatment, or medical condition."

Claims of a larger conspiracy

Aleema Khan went further, accusing the Pakistani government and military leadership of plotting to harm her brother.

She said Imran Khan had warned the family that his life was in danger during their last meeting. “Imran Khan said Asim Munir would kill him,” she alleged.

Earlier, at a press conference, she named Asim Munir and Mohsin Naqvi as part of what she described as a “lethal conspiracy."

She also suggested that judicial intervention could pave the way for Khan’s release, saying that if the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court hears both pending cases against him, bail could become possible.

Medical report raises alarm

The controversy has been sharpened by a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which alleged that Imran Khan has suffered irreversible vision damage due to what it described as "institutionalised medical neglect."

The seven-page report said Khan had perfect 6/6 vision in both eyes until October 2025. It alleged that he later repeatedly complained of “persistent blurred and hazy vision” to the jail authorities at Adiala Jail, without receiving adequate medical attention.

Imran Khan has been incarcerated since 2023 following multiple convictions and ongoing legal proceedings. His party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has consistently alleged political victimisation, accusing the government of using imprisonment, poor prison conditions and medical denial to break its jailed leader.

As pressure mounts and accusations grow more severe, the Pakistani government has yet to offer transparency or allow independent medical supervision, deepening concerns that Imran Khan’s health is being sacrificed to political vengeance rather than protected by the state.
