What’s Ayurveda doing in the Epstein files? A curious detail from the DOJ release

The Justice Department released thousands of Epstein-related records that include references to massage practices and Ayurveda, while acknowledging the disclosure is incomplete.

The newly released Jeffrey Epstein files include references to massage techniques and Ayurveda from India, according to documents made public by the US Justice Department on Friday, PTI reported.

The disclosure follows a bill signed last month by Donald Trump, mandating the release of Epstein-related records within 30 days.

Among the exhibits released, one document refers to massages and Ayurveda as part of detoxification practices.

“Many practitioners in the West are now offering massage and other treatments based upon this 5,000-year-old system of natural healing from India,” the document states, PTI reported.

The files also include articles titled The Art of Giving Massage, which mention the use of sesame oil for detoxification.

The release has come amid political controversy in the US, with Democrats pressing for the publication of Epstein-linked records because of the financier’s ties to influential figures.

Trump, who was acquainted with Epstein before a later falling out, has faced scrutiny over that past association.

According to PTI, the newly released trove contains only a limited number of photographs of Trump. The documents also include several photographs of former US president Bill Clinton, as well as an image of Epstein with the late pop star Michael Jackson.

The Justice Department has acknowledged that the disclosure is incomplete.

Neither Trump nor Clinton has ever been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

Epstein died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges alleging that he sexually abused and trafficked dozens of underage girls.

The latest document release adds new details to the public record but leaves key questions unresolved, with further disclosures expected as political pressure over the Epstein files continues.
