The latest release of the Epstein Files has revealed the names of several prominent Indians, including wellness guru Deepak Chopra and filmmaker Mira Nair. Chopra reportedly met convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein multiple times, even after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

Responding to the allegations, Chopra said he was “saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case" and clarified that he was never involved in any “criminal exploitative conduct."

Taking to X, Chopra stated: “I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms. I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity. Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time. My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors.”

Other Indians mentioned in the files include filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Nandita Das, as well as businessman Anil Ambani.

Emails between Chopra and Epstein

Several emails between Chopra and Epstein, dating back to 2016, were part of the recent release. In one, Chopra wrote about enjoying the company of “younger, intellectually sharp and self-aware women” to inspire and stimulate them. Another email discussed a news article about a lawsuit against Donald Trump being dropped. Chopra’s exchanges also mentioned Trump’s then-wife Marla Maples.

On these revelations, Chopra expressed regret over the tone of his past emails: “Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgment in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time.”

Chopra, who transitioned from hospital medicine to spiritual and wellness work after meeting Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1985, emphasized that his focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and survivor protection.

About the Epstein Files

The Epstein Files is a term used for thousands of pages of legal and investigative records connected to financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexually abusing and trafficking underage girls.

The files are not a single document but a collection of court proceedings, witness statements, flight logs, phone records, emails, and other communications released over time from multiple cases involving Epstein and his associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell.
