US President Donald Trump blasted out on NBC reporter, calling him "disgrace" and "jerk" as he raised question about the luxurious Qatari jet and modifying it as a future Air Force One.
Pentagon has confirmed the formal acceptance of a Boeing 747, reportedly worth $400 million, from Qatar to be incorporated into the Air Force One fleet.
"What are you talking about? … What are you talking about? You know… You need to get out of here… What does this have to do with Qatari Jet…? They are giving the United States Air Force a jet, and it’s a great thing…," Trump said to the reporter.
This incident took place during Trump's meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House. Trump also accused the reporter of diverting attention from more important issues, such as the violence and racist laws against white farmers in South Africa.
"You get out of here. What does this have to do with the Qatari jet? They're giving the United States Air Force a jet. Okay. And it's a great thing. We're talking about a lot of other things," Trump reacted.
He further criticized the reporter, saying, "You're a terrible reporter, number one. You don't have what it takes to be a reporter. Not smart enough."
Trump defended the gift, calling it a “very nice thing,” and added, “They also gave $5.1 trillion worth of investment in addition to the jet.”
The US Department of Defense made the announcement on Wednesday, May 21, following earlier reports from May 11 that the administration was planning to accept the aircraft as a gift. Addressing the matter during a press conference alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, President Donald Trump dismissed the backlash, stating that Qatar was simply “helping us out.”
