Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia is prepared to contribute $1 billion to the proposed “Board of Peace” using Russian assets frozen by the US administration.
Putin added that remaining frozen funds could be used to rebuild territories affected by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine once a peace agreement is signed.
The remarks come amid discussions around a new international peace initiative focused on resolving global conflicts and supporting post-war reconstruction.

Western governments froze billions of dollars in Russian state assets following Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine, and how those funds should be used has remained a contentious issue in international diplomacy.
The development follows earlier comments by US President Donald Trump, who said that Putin had agreed to join his proposed “Board of Peace” initiative. Trump claimed while speaking to reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos after meeting NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“He was invited. He’s accepted,” Trump said.
Putin later pushed back on the assertion, saying that the invitation was still under consideration, indicating that no final decision had yet been taken.
Earlier, Putin said, “What happens to Greenland is none of our business,” in televised remarks during a late-night meeting of Russia’s national Security Council.
Eight Islamic nations, including several Arab states, have welcomed US President Donald J. Trump’s invitation to join the proposed “Board of Peace,” signaling their support for ongoing international efforts to resolve the Gaza conflict.
The countries confirming their participation include Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
