Amid ongoing tensions between India and Bangladesh, Pakistan is moving to strengthen its ties with Dhaka. In this context, Islamabad’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Bangladesh’s Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain.
According to a statement from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two officials reviewed Pakistan–Bangladesh relations and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors.

The development follows India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar attending the funeral of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, where he shook hands with Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in Dhaka ahead of the ceremony.
Both Pakistani and Bangladeshi officials exchanged views on recent developments in Asia and the Middle East and agreed to maintain close contact amid the evolving regional dynamics, the statement added.
Bangladesh won independence in 1971 following a bloody struggle against Pakistan and has historically maintained strong ties with India, which played a crucial role in its liberation.
Relations between India and Bangladesh deteriorated after the 2024 uprising that removed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power. Dhaka accused India of supporting Hasina’s now-banned Awami League party, allegations that India has denied.
