Panic gripped parts of northern Tehran after Gandhi Hospital was struck during the latest round of airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel on the Iranian capital.

Videos widely circulated online showed damage to the hospital building on Gandhi Street, with broken windows and debris scattered near the entrance. In footage broadcast by Tasnim News Agency, nurses were seen carrying infants as alarms sounded, evacuating wards amid the confusion.

Two witnesses told Reuters that Israeli strikes had hit the hospital vicinity on Sunday, describing the facility as “badly damaged” and saying patients were moved outside into the street as a precaution.

Clips from the scene captured people running in multiple directions, some calling out for family members while smoke rose in the background. Authorities have not confirmed the number of casualties at the hospital.

The strike came hours after explosions were reported across northern Tehran. Israel has said it is taking its campaign to the “heart” of the Iranian capital, following the killing of Ali Khamenei in a joint US–Israeli operation the previous day.

The broader confrontation has now entered its second day. Iran has responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israel and targeting US military facilities in Gulf countries. The escalating exchanges have heightened concerns about civilian safety in densely populated urban areas.

In Washington, a senior White House official said individuals emerging within Iran’s leadership had indicated a willingness to engage in discussions with the United States. US President Donald Trump told The Atlantic that he had agreed to speak with Iran’s new leadership, stating, “They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them.” The same official noted, however, that the military operation “continues unabated”.

As air raid sirens and explosions continue to reverberate through Tehran, the scenes at Gandhi Hospital have emerged as one of the starkest illustrations of the conflict’s impact on civilians.
