A 2013 email exchange between Elon Musk and Jeffrey Epstein has resurfaced in connection with recently unsealed court documents, drawing renewed scrutiny to the late financier’s outreach to prominent business figures.

The correspondence, dated September 2013, relates to plans surrounding a potential visit to New York during the week of the United Nations General Assembly. In one message included in the disclosed material, Musk wrote that flying to New York solely to meet UN diplomats and “do nothing” would be an unwise use of his time. At the time, he referenced leading product design and engineering at two companies and SpaceX’s forthcoming rocket launch as pressing priorities.

Epstein replied in an email that has since circulated widely online. In that response, he wrote, “There is no one over 25 and all very cute,” referring to people expected to attend an event at his New York residence. The language of that message has drawn particular attention given Epstein’s 2008 conviction for sex offences involving a minor and the broader allegations of sex trafficking that later led to his 2019 federal indictment.

The emails form part of a broader set of documents released through US court proceedings tied to civil litigation involving Epstein’s associates. Over the past several years, courts have unsealed thousands of pages of records, including correspondence, flight logs and depositions. The presence of a person’s name in such records does not in itself indicate criminal wrongdoing, but disclosures have repeatedly generated reputational consequences for individuals connected to Epstein’s social network.

Musk has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein on limited occasions. Reporting by major outlets including The Wall Street Journal and Reuters in earlier years stated that Musk met Epstein briefly in 2011 at the suggestion of mutual acquaintances. Musk has said he did not have a business relationship with Epstein and distanced himself from him after becoming aware of concerns surrounding his conduct.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges and died in a Manhattan jail the following month. His death was ruled a suicide. Since then, continued document releases have revived examination of his extensive contacts across politics, finance and technology.

The resurfaced 2013 exchange underscores how even brief historical interactions remain under intense public examination as additional Epstein related records enter the public domain.
