Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday that the country's forces could fight an intense war for at least six months against the US and Israel.
“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are capable of continuing at least a 6-month intense war at the current pace of operations,” said Ali Mohammad Naini, a spokesperson of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
The Guards, Iran’s elite force, also says it targeted “more than 200” locations related to American and Israeli bases and facilities across the region.
Tehran accused the US and Israel of striking an oil depot in the Iranian capital on Saturday, the first reported assault on the Islamic republic's oil infrastructure. The Israeli military said it struck "a number of fuel storage facilities in Tehran" that were used "to operate military infrastructure."
According to Fars News Agency, four people were killed in Israel strikes on Iranian oil depots.
Israel's military also launched a new wave of strikes "across Tehran" on Sunday, after carrying out a strike on a hotel in an area of central Beirut popular with tourists.
Ali Mohammad Naini said Iran had so far used "first and second generation" missiles, but will use "advanced and less-used long-range missiles" in the coming days.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to press on with the war against Iran "with all our force", with a plan to eradicate the country's leadership after joint US-Israeli raids killed Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran "will be forced to respond" if a neighbouring country were to be used as a launchpad for any attack or invasion attempt.
