Haifa Port Company on Sunday stated that all its employees are safe and that the port’s assets and infrastructure continue to remain secure and fully operational despite rising tensions in West Asia.
In a statement released through an Adani Group spokesperson, the company said it is closely tracking developments in the regional security environment. The port is working in coordination with Israel’s Ministry of Transport and Road Safety and functioning in accordance with official directives.
“We remain committed to ensuring the safety of our people and the continuity of operations, maintaining stability for Israel’s supply chain and international trade,” the spokesperson said.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), together with Israel’s Gadot Group, took over the Port of Haifa in 2022 after winning a government tender to privatise Israel’s second-largest port. The port serves as a key hub for the country’s import and export activities.
The statement comes amid heightened military tensions in the region. On Saturday, the United States and Israel were reported to have conducted joint missile strikes on Iran, with explosions heard in Tehran and other major cities.
Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes aimed at Israeli and US-linked assets in several Gulf states. Further explosions were reported in Tehran and other areas.
According to reports, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tehran, marking a major escalation in the ongoing conflict.
