A smoke plume rises over Abu Dhabi from the site of an Iranian missile strike

"I heard explosions nearly 10-12 kms away from my location in Abu Dhabi around 2:20 PM today, " Kumar Abhik, aged 26, an Indian national from Delhi staying in UAE's capital city said.

Iran on February 28 attacked UAE's Abu Dhabi, Qatar's Doha, and Saudi Arabia's Riyadh hours after Israel and the US conducted joint strikes on Iran, plunging the Middle East into a new conflict.

"The situation is scary and we are worried. We have been advised to stay indoors and not click photos of anything related to the explosion," Abhik told Moneycontrol on call, hours after Iran struck US military base in Abu Dhabi.

Two other Indian nationals -- Sagar Chavan, 35, (from Pune) and Frew Menezes, 32, (from Mangalore) -- also heard the explosion. These individuals stay in Mohammad Bin Zayed City of Abu Dhabi.

"We are following all the instructions of the UAE government and Indian embassy...we don't want to panic, but there is a lot of chaos at the moment," Chavan said.

In a notice, the Indian Embassy has advised all Indian citizens in the UAE to avoid unnecessary travel, take due care, remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines issued by the UAE authorities, and the Embassy.

"The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, and the Consulate General in Dubai, continues to function normally and will issue updates as necessary," the notice says.

The UAE government has advised all residents of the country to "stay clear of any locations where debris or suspicious objects have fallen, and to refrain from approaching or photographing them", said a notification received by Indian nationals, as seen by Moneycontrol.

Post the attack, the UAE's Ministry of Defence said a civilian of an Asian nationality was killed due to the "fall of some missile debris in a residential area" in Abu Dhabi.
