Russian President Vladimir Putin rushed to leave a plenary session on Thursday to get on a call with Donald Trump -- their sixth publicly disclosed chat since Trump returned to the White House this year.
As he rushed, the Russian President apologised to the crowd, admitting it would be awkward to make him wait.
“Please, don’t be angry. I understand that we could talk more, but it’s so awkward to make [Trump] wait; he could get offended,” Putin said, as he signed off mid-event.
The leaders spoke at length over various issues surrounding Iran, Ukraine, among others, as per the US President. “We had a call. It was a pretty long call. We talked about a lot of things, including Iran. We also talked about the war with Ukraine,” Trump said.
However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the conversation as the two leaders could not make any progress on Ukraine peace deal.
“I am not happy about that... No, I didn't make any progress with him (Russian President Putin) today,” Trump said.

A Kremlin official said Putin told Trump that Russia’s campaign against Ukraine will continue till all the objectives are achieved. Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov said Moscow will continue to seek a diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict but will not leave its root causes unaddressed.
Thursday's call follows the Pentagon's confirmation that it's pausing shipment of some weapons to Ukraine as it reviews US military stockpiles. The weapons being held up for Ukraine include air defence missiles, precision-guided artillery and other equipment.
The details on the weapons in some of the paused deliveries were confirmed by a US official and former national security official familiar with the matter. They both requested anonymity to discuss what is being held up as the Pentagon has yet to provide details.
Ushakov said a suspension of some US weapons shipments to Ukraine wasn't discussed in the Trump-Putin call.
