Countries across the globe are reeling from the impact of the Trump administration’s decision to eliminate over 90 percent of foreign aid contracts, slashing approximately $60 billion in funding. The sudden move, announced earlier this week, has forced the closure of vital programs, leaving millions without essential health care, food assistance, and humanitarian support.

  • Senegal: The country’s largest malaria project, which provided bed nets and medication, has been shut down, along with maternal and child health services.
  • South Sudan: The International Rescue Committee has ended a program that provided essential health and nutrition services to 115,000 people.
  • Colombia: A Norwegian Refugee Council program supporting 50,000 displaced people with food, shelter, and water has been shuttered.
  • Sudan: The closure of 90 communal kitchens in Khartoum has left over half a million people without consistent food access.
  • Bangladesh: 600,000 women and children have lost access to maternal health care, reproductive services, and protection from violence.
  • Mali: More than 270,000 people no longer have access to water, food, and essential health services.
