The US Department of Justice’s release of a new tranche of documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein on January 30, 2026, has revived public attention on past interactions between Epstein and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

The disclosure follows the enactment of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandated the release of approximately three million pages of records, along with thousands of images and videos. Among the materials drawing particular attention is a set of emails written by Epstein to himself in 2013, which contain unverified and controversial claims about Gates’ personal life.

Gates’ representatives have firmly denied the allegations contained in the documents, dismissing them as baseless and fabricated. In a statement, a spokesperson for Gates said the claims were “absolutely absurd and completely false,” arguing that the emails reflect Epstein’s resentment over being shut out of Gates’ life rather than any factual account.

“The only thing these documents demonstrate is Epstein’s frustration that he did not have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame,” the statement added.

The emails in question are dated July 2013 and were sent by Epstein to his own email account. They appear to be written from the perspective of Boris Nikolic, a former adviser to Gates, and resemble draft messages rather than correspondence that was ever sent. The tone of the documents combines emotional appeals with implied threats.

In the drafts, Epstein alleges that Gates had sexual encounters with “Russian girls” and subsequently contracted a sexually transmitted disease. He further claims that Gates sought medication that could be secretly given to his then-wife, Melinda French Gates, in an attempt to conceal the infection.

One of the emails asserts that Gates asked Epstein to delete correspondence referencing “your STD, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda, and the description of your p****.”

Another draft expands on these claims, stating that Nikolic helped Gates obtain drugs to “deal with the consequences of sex with Russian girls” and that he had been asked to participate in conduct described as ranging from “morally inappropriate” to “potentially illegal.”

Across the documents, Epstein portrays himself as possessing damaging information and implies that such material could be used as leverage, particularly in the event of a public divorce that could harm Gates’ philanthropic standing.

“I am concerned that if Melinda decides as you said to file for a public divorce, the damage done to the pledge program alone would result in billions of dollars of money no longer being used for social good as Im [sic] sure that some wives and husbands would feel free to retreat from their commitments,” he wrote.

Gates’ team has reiterated that the claims are false and that the documents do not reflect any ongoing relationship between Gates and Epstein, instead highlighting what they describe as Epstein’s attempts to fabricate narratives after being denied access.
