Referred to as "God's Own Country", Kerala is loved for its natural beauty and rich culture. The rich places can be enjoyed perfectly on a budget as well. Below is a suggested six-day budget itinerary covering the best of Kerala:

Day 1: Kochi- The Historic Gateway
A city which blends colonial history with vibrant culture, start your journey in Kochi. Explore Fort Kochi, St. Francis Church, and Mattancherry Palace along with Jew Town and its spice markets. End your day at Marine Drive by enjoying a peaceful sunset with snacks from the local vendors.

Day 2: Munnar – Tea Gardens and Cool Hills
Hit Munnar on day 2, with its misty hills and wide tea estates, it's a budget traveller's heaven. Hike up to Anamudi Peak viewpoints for a startling experience. Travel through local buses and have simple yet finger-licking food to have an authentic experience on a budget.

Day 3: Thekkady – Wildlife and Spice Trails
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit, accessible with an easy drive from Munnar to Thekkady. Enjoy the boat rides with pocket-friendly guides and spot elephants, deer, and birds at minimal cost. Finding an affordable and cosy hotel to spend the night is also child's play in Thekkady.

Day 4: Alleppey – Backwaters on a Budget
Blackwaters and houseboats are a must-visit and not to be missed. Stroll freely through paddy fields and coconut groves and take public or group boat rides through the canals to get the taste of local village life. To spend the night, budget-friendly homestays are available near the blackwaters.

Day 5: Varkala – Clifftop Beaches and Relaxation
Have a laid-back sea experience without emptying your pockets. Watching sunsets from the cliff top over the Arabian Sea is Heaven on earth. Enjoy a backpackers evening and stroll through cafes, seaside and yoga classes to relax without overspending on luxury hotels.

Day 6: Trivandrum – Culture and City Life
End your journey in the capital of Kerala, Trivandrum. With reasonable entry charges, visit the legendary Padmanabhaswamy Temple and the Napier Museum. The city's blend of tradition and modernity ends the trip on a positive note.

A six-day budget holiday in Kerala encompasses everything from foggy hills and wildlife to golden beaches and old towns. Kerala shows that paradise need not come at a cost. All it needs is careful planning and a willingness to indulge in slow, experiential travel.
