Dubai is redefining global sustainability leadership with the launch of its Blue Visa program, a groundbreaking initiative granting 10-year residency to environmental pioneers. Announced at the World Governments Summit 2025 on February 12, this long-term visa aims to attract and retain individuals making exceptional contributions to environmental sustainability.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) have awarded the first 20 Blue Visas to leaders and innovators who have significantly advanced sustainability efforts in the UAE and beyond.

Who is Eligible for the UAE Blue Visa?
The Blue Visa is designed for individuals dedicated to environmental action and sustainability. Eligible applicants include:

  • Members of international organisations and global companies
  • Activists, researchers, and award-winning figures in environmental fields
  • NGOs, associations, and institutions committed to climate action
  • Emirati citizens and international advocates working towards environmental preservation

First introduced in May 2024, the Blue Visa aligns with the UAE’s broader vision to position itself as a global leader in sustainability and green innovation.

How to Apply for the UAE Blue Visa
Applying for the Blue Visa is now easier than ever with the introduction of a streamlined electronic system. There are two ways to apply:

Direct Application: Submit an application online via the ICP platform.Nomination: Relevant government agencies can nominate individuals based on their contributions to sustainability.

The ICP’s website and mobile app provide 24/7 access to the Blue Visa service, with detailed eligibility criteria and application procedures available online.
