Delhi is set to transform into a gastronomic paradise as the Saras Aajeevika Food Festival 2025 opens its doors at Sunder Nursery. Inaugurated by Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture, and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday, December 1, 2025, the festival promises a mouth-watering journey through India’s diverse culinary landscape, featuring traditional dishes from over 25 states.
Running till December 9, 2025, this nine-day celebration is more than just a food fair — it’s a vibrant showcase of culture, heritage, and women’s empowerment.
A Gastronomic Extravaganza
The festival will feature over 500 traditional dishes served across 62 stalls, representing states from Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Gujarat, and many more. Visitors can indulge in a kaleidoscope of flavours — from the tandoor tea of Uttarakhand and Himachali siddu to Hyderabadi dum biryani, Bengali fried fish, Kerala’s Malabar biryani, Punjab’s sarson ka saag with makki ki roti, and litti chokha from Bihar.
With 50 live food stalls and 12 dedicated to natural food products, food lovers can watch the magic of traditional cooking unfold right before their eyes.
Celebrating Women’s Empowerment
The Saras Food Festival is not just about food — it’s a celebration of women entrepreneurship and self-reliance. Around 300 ‘Lakhpati Didis’ from self-help groups across India are participating, presenting both culinary delicacies and rural products.
Organised under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), this festival highlights the skills and creativity of rural women. It provides them with a platform to showcase their expertise, inspire others, and contribute to India’s rich cultural and culinary heritage.
