Addressing an election rally in Bihar's Khagaria district in support of RJD's Parbatta candidate Sanjeev Kumar, Mahagathbandhan's CM face Tejashwi Yadav said he was fighting the elections not just to form a government but to build the state.
The Mahagathbandhan is set to finalize its alliance for the upcoming Bihar elections. Tejashwi Yadav has pledged to make Jeevika Didis permanent government employees with increased salaries and financial benefits.
In an attempt to settle the differences within the alliance in Bihar, which has failed to arrive at an acceptable seat-sharing arrangement for the Assembly elections, former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot met RJD president Lalu Prasad in Patna on Wednesday.
With no clarity yet on the seat-sharing of the Mahagathbandhan alliance of the opposition parties, the constituents of the Grand Alliance have announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
In Darbhanga's Gaura Bauram, the implications of not finalizing a definitive seat-sharing plan is playing itself out. Before the seat-sharing within the Opposition bloc was finalised, RJD had decided to field its leader Afzal Ali Khan from Gaura Bauram.
As per reports and repeated indications by Rashtriya Janata Dal -- the senior partner in Mahagathbandhan, the Congress is likely to get a less number of seats than the last elections due to its performance in the 2020 assembly polls. In the last state election, the INC managed to secure only 19 out of 70 seats it contested.
After filing his nomination, Tejashwi launched a sharp attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, claiming that the Janata Dal (United) is no longer under his control.
As the campaign by both bloc -- National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and INDIA (Mahagathbandhan alliance) is set to enter a decisive juncture, an issue that is seen as a constant irritant-- especially in the Mahagathbandhan bloc is its continued reluctance to officially declare a chief ministerial face. The issue found multiple mentions during press addresses by senior leaders of the grouping.
Tej Pratap made it clear that he will contest the upcoming assembly polls from Mahua, a constituency that is adjacent to Tejashwi's Raghopur seat and from where he had made his debut in the 2015 assembly polls.
Tejashwi took a dig at the ruling party and said, "Are we the BJP that we do not have any faces? We definitely will not contest the elections without projecting a Chief Ministerial face."
At stake is not just the political momentum generated by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s joint campaign against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, but also the carefully crafted projection of Opposition unity in Bihar.
The RJD leader was asked to comment on the PM's speech at a rally in Purnea a day ago, when the opposition party was charged with "shielding and defending" infiltrators.
Invited to join, Tejashwi Yadav enthusiastically participated, learning trending dance moves and even mimicking Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan's signature steps.
Tejashwi Yadav said, 'I must say that the chief minister does not have a vision for the state. He is in fact a ‘cheat minister’, not a CM
“Tejashwi has been promising jobs to Bihar’s youth, which would put an end to forced migration. Let him win the assembly polls and it would be the turn of the BJP to migrate from the state," said Akhilesh Yadav.
Yadav asked the Modi government to discuss Bihar's development. He said that they (BJP) never discuss on how to develop Bihar.
Yadav has been booked in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra for a post on his X handle, ahead of the PM's tour of Bihar on Friday, in which he had alleged that Modi's promises to the people were a "jumla" (rhetoric).
A BJP MLA, in his complaint, alleged that Tejashwi Yadav posted an objectionable comment against the prime minister on X ahead of his visit to Gaya, Bihar.
If PMLA is slapped in ED cases, there can be no quick bail. These are torture tactics. Instead of building the country, they are destroying it, says RJD leader.
Taking to X, Tejashwi Yadav shared two different EPIC numbers, serial numbers and their corresponding section numbers from two different constituencies.
