An FIR has been filed against former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav for tweeting an alleged objectionable post about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The FIR was filed at Gadchiroli police station after after Milind Narote, BJP MLA from Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, filed a complaint against the RJD leader, a senior police official said on Friday, PTI reported.
Narote, in his complaint, alleged that Yadav posted an objectionable comment against the prime minister on X ahead of his visit to Gaya, Bihar.
20… pic.twitter.com/X1KRhb80pY— Tejashwi Yadav (@yadavtejashwi) August 22, 2025
According to him, the posts accused PM Modi of being a 'liar' and making false promises. The complaint further mentioned that one of the posts included a song ridiculing the Prime Minister, with lyrics claiming he 'lies morning and evening.'
The BJP legislator said he personally verified the posts before approaching the police. He alleged that Yadav’s remarks were not only defamatory but also derogatory and socially divisive. “Such propaganda has caused resentment among sensible citizens of Gadchiroli and is aimed at disturbing peace and harmony,” the MLA said in his statement, according to a report by The Free Press Journal.
A first information report (FIR) has been registered under sections 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 356 (defamation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) and 353 (statements that cause public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official added, PTI reported.
