Out of the 30 new routes under UDAN which will be launched by first week of October, Alliance Air will launch 6 new routes, IndiGo and SpiceJet will launch 4 new routes each. In addition, 4Big Charter and Star Air will launch 8 new routes each.

"I have written a letter to all chief ministers in the country to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on ATF (aviation turbine fuel). There are eight-nine states where it is in the range of one to four per cent, and that has resulted in 15 per cent increase in flights from those states," the minister said.

The civil aviation minister also asked the chief ministers of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat to deposit Rs 7.55 crore, Rs 1.44 crore and Rs 47 lakh, respectively, with the Regional Air Connectivity Fund Trust.

The minister said that the Defence Ministry, the Home Ministry and BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) have been working together so that "counter rogue drone technology" can be developed and adopted quickly.
