




The civil aviation minister was replying to queries from the media on recent multiple incidents of technical snags involving aircraft.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) takes care of the safety aspects, while the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is in charge of the security aspects in the sector.
On Tuesday, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia exuded assurance that India would soon overtake China as the world's top steel producer. After China, India is the second-largest producer of crude steel worldwide.
Jyotiraditya Scindia also said there are tremendous growth opportunities for domestic airlines and they are expected to have a fleet of 1,200 planes in five years.

"We intend to go to 220 airports by 2030. That is the phenomenal growth that you are going to see on infrastructure as far as airports are concerned..., Scindia said.
Jhujhunwala, who was present at the Mumbai airport, said in his speech: ”I must thank you (Scindia) because people say that India has a very very bad bureaucracy but the cooperation that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has given us, it is unbelievable.”
Against the backdrop of a spate of technical snags suffered by Indian airlines in recent weeks and DGCA curtailing operations of SpiceJet, Kumar stressed that there is no need to panic as none of the events that have been reported/discussed had the potential to cause havoc.
The aviation ministry, in a letter issued to all airlines, also stated that any additional amount cannot be considered within the tariff.
During the meeting, the minister took a detailed report from the officials about these incidents over the last one month and told them that there should be no compromise over passengers' safety.
Three international carriers' aircrafts have made emergency landings at various airports across India, due to technical difficulties.
Jyotiraditya Scindia also said that 14 new air routes will be made available in the state to increase connectivity.
Stating that steel plays a major role in the country’s economy, newly-appointed Union Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said India’s steel production will double from the current 120 million tonnes to 240 million tonnes in the next eight years.
The 51-year old MP, who represents Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha, is the third steel minister in the current Modi government. Scindia is currently in charge of the Civil Aviation Ministry

The lower end of the fare band was put in place to help airlines that had been struggling financially due to travel restrictions. The upper limit was imposed so that passengers are not charged huge amounts when demand for seats is high.
"Under the Drone Rules 2021, a type certificate is issued for specific type of unmanned aircraft system (drone) by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on the recommendation of the Quality Council of India (QCI) or an authorised testing entity," the aviation ministry said on Twitter.
