If you are a fan of Total War games where you get to control vast armies from the ancient and medieval ages in grand, simulated battles, then you are in luck. “Total War: Three Kingdoms”, the first Total War game to be set in ancient China, can now be claimed for free on the Epic Games Store. The war strategy game, combining real-time battles with turn-based strategy, will be free till January 8 9:30 PM.

Without the 100% discount, the base game by Creative Assembly would cost you Rs 3,599, so it is a no-brainer deal for a Total War game. There is a grand turn-based campaign waiting for you in Total War: Three Kingdoms. You can also ask your friends to get their free copies, and then invite them to online multiplayer. There is a small catch, though, when it comes to cross-play across platforms, as for now, Total War: Three Kingdoms on Epic Games Store does not support cross-play with the Steam version. The good news is that the developers are working on cross-play support for Steam.

Set in 190CE China, Total War: Three Kingdoms allows you to play as one of the 12 Warlords featured in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, China’s historical epic. Each Warlord comes with a unique playstyle, motivations and objectives.

Besides the 12 Warlords, the game features supporting heroes, too. Their varied talents allow them to become army commanders and provincial governors in your empire.

To get Total War: Three Kingdoms for free on Epic Games Store, sign up for an Epic Games account if you haven’t already. Download the Epic Games Launcher, go to “Discover” and scroll down to see the list of free games. You’ll find two titles being offered for free there: Total War: Three Kingdoms and Wildgate. You can add any one or both to your game library.
