Terminator 2D No Fate: How Sarah Connor, John Connor and the T-800 play in the game

Terminator 2D: No Fate is the next game to be announced in the Terminator universe, where humankind is under constant threat of extinction by agents of the rogue AI Skynet. Based on the sci-fi landmark film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the 2D side-scrolling action game by Bitmap Bureau and Reef Entertainment features three playable characters: Sarah Connor, the T-800 and John Connor. Here, we discuss the individual abilities and combat styles of the three iconic Terminator franchise characters in Terminator 2D: No Fate.

Sarah Connor: The Mother
In Terminator 2D: No Fate, Sarah Connor is a melee combat expert. An agile and fearless fighter, she favours engaging the enemy directly. Sarah is also well-versed in the use of firearms.

“We also gave her a laser sight, inspired by the iconic Miles Dyson scene. It locks the player in place but significantly boosts damage”, Reef Entertainment said in a blog post.

John Connor: The Messiah
Terminator 2D: No Fate developers have expanded the lore of John Connor for the game. He will not always remain a child who has to be constantly rescued. Consequently, you’ll get to play as an adult John Connor in the Future War missions where the messiah of the humans will lead the Resistance against Skynet’s brutal dominance.

As per the devs, John Connor’s gameplay “emphasizes strategic mid-to-long-range combat, using a plasma rifle, pipe bombs, and three ammo types. He’s less agile than Sarah but can execute a tactical roll to evade attacks”.

T-800: The Protector
In the upcoming game, the T-800 (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) is not as fast and agile as Sarah and John but makes up for this with its weight and powerful attacks. The T-800 has a “devastating shoulder barge” and “compensates for slower speed with high durability, taking significant damage before going down”, said Reef Entertainment.

Terminator 2D No Fate: Platforms and release date
Terminator 2D: No Fate will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on September 5, 2025.
