Popular messaging platform Telegram has rolled out a new update, allowing users to create their own Passkey, which will help them with instant logins on eligible devices. This allows login using biometric authentication such as Face ID or Touch ID, removing the reliance on SMS codes or traditional passwords, and aligning the app with the passwordless security standards adopted by major tech platforms over the last few years.
Telegram allows instant login using Passkeys with other additions: Key detailsInstead of waiting for an SMS code every time you need to log in to Telegram, you can now use your phone’s fingerprint, face unlock, or device PIN. Passkeys work anywhere, at any time, regardless of your location, and eliminate the required for an OTP through SMS or in-app messaging. Moreover, Passkeys offer enhanced security over traditional passwords and are designed to be phishing-resistant.
Passkeys can be turned on from the security settings. However, users are still required to link their phone number as a backup. Further, Telegram is also trying to clean up how digital gifts are bought and sold. Users can make direct offers on gifts shown on someone’s profile using Telegram Stars or TON. Each offer includes a custom price and time limit, with payments safely reserved during the offer period. Thankfully, if an offer expires or is declined, the full amount is instantly refunded.
Lastly, with the latest update, posting Stories on Telegram is now even more intuitive, allowing users to quickly add audio from their profile playlist directly to Stories by selecting the Audio option via the Sticker menu. To use an audio in Stories, you need to tap the sticker button, choose Audio, and pick a track.
