Telegram has started rolling out a couple of new features to the platform. The features are a part of the latest update and include the ability to send Gifts, a verification platform for businesses, improved video chats, and enhanced reporting options. Here’s all you need to know.
Gifts feature
Telegram users can now send Gifts to their contacts, which can be displayed on profiles or converted into Telegram Stars. Stars can be used to support creators, purchase services in mini-apps, or send more Gifts.
To send a Gift, users can access a contact’s profile, choose to send a Gift, and add a custom message or emoji. The gift sender can choose to remain anonymous, ensuring their name is only visible to the recipient if the Gift is displayed on their profile.
Verification Platform for Businesses
Telegram is also making it easier to identify legitimate businesses on its platform. To do this it has introduced a new verification platform for businesses to confirm customer phone numbers.
Instead of relying on SMS or other methods, companies can now send verification codes through Telegram for $0.01 per user. This method is faster and more secure.
Improved reporting system
Telegram’s reporting interface has been updated to enhance content moderation. With millions of messages being reported daily, the platform has introduced more detailed categories for reporting. The reporting menu now dynamically updates based on current events, ensuring users have the most relevant options when flagging content.
Redesigned video chats on iOS
Telegram on iOS now comes with an updated video call interface which aims to improve the battery life. The update ensures that devices remain cooler during long calls, even with multiple participants and video feeds. Video chats allow users to share their screens and show their cameras simultaneously.
