How scammers trap their victims

Jio has highlighted several measures scammers take to trap their victims and dupe them. Here are the details.

- Scammers contact their victims through calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages or email

- They try to get sensitive information like PAN, Aadhaar, bank account, card details, OTPs or SIM number

- Create an urgency and threaten service disruption if you don’t comply

- Ask you to download & install third-party app which grants them access to your phone/computer and personal data

Tips to stay safe from cyber frauds

Reliance Jio has also shared some tips for its users to help them prevent getting trapped in such scams. Here are a few things you can do to stay protected from such scams, as per Jio’s advisory.

- Avoid clicking on suspicious links or attachments and never respond to unsolicited emails, messages or calls asking for your personal information.
