The Nothing Phone (3a) series is set to launch globally on March 4 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 event. This lineup is expected to consist of a standard Nothing Phone (3a) and another Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, with the latter expected to replace the Phone (2a) Plus. Further, these upcoming smartphones will feature improved hardware and AI-powered enhancements, making them a standout addition to Nothing's product range.
Nothing Phone 3a series to be powered by a Snapdragon chipNothing officially confirmed on its X (formerly Twitter) account that a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will power the upcoming Phone 3a series. The company’s CEO Carl Pei shared the news, stating, "I'm excited to announce that we're returning to the Qualcomm Snapdragon series with the Phone (3a). It will feature a 25% faster CPU and a 72% faster MPU compared to the Phone (2a) Plus."
This chip is designed to bring premium features, which were once exclusive to flagship SoCs. Moreover, this chipset will likely bring the support for on-device generative AI and the Phone (3a) series could debut with AI-powered features and possibly even a conversational AI assistant, given Nothing's ongoing partnership with OpenAI. Pei also confirmed that the phone’s CPU will be 25% faster and the NPU will be 72% faster than the Phone 2a Plus.
Beyond the processor upgrade, the Nothing Phone (3a) series is expected to feature a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. These handsets are also expected to run on Nothing OS 3.1, based on Android 15. Additionally, they will likely retain the signature Glyph interface, a hallmark of the brand’s design philosophy. Both these devices could also have an extra button on the right side of the phone, which could be used for taking quick snapshots.
