Maruti Suzuki has officially introduced the e Vitara in India, marking its full-scale entry into the electric SUV segment with a strong focus on connected technology and digital-first ownership. Beyond range and battery details, the e Vitara positions itself as a software-driven vehicle built around smart controls, cloud connectivity, and advanced driver assistance systems aimed at everyday usability. The price of the car starts at Rs 10.99 lakh and battery-as-service is priced at Rs 3.99 per km.

Smart connectivity takes centre stage

One of the standout additions in the e Vitara is smartwatch integration. Owners can lock or unlock the vehicle, check charging status, monitor battery range, and receive security alerts directly on their smartwatch. This removes the constant dependency on a smartphone app and makes quick vehicle checks more seamless during daily routines.

Infotainment system Infotainment system

Alongside this is a connected car platform that brings live vehicle diagnostics, trip history, remote climate control, geo-fencing, and theft alerts through a mobile app. Charging station locations, route planning based on remaining range, and service reminders are also baked into the system.

Digital key and personalised driver profiles

The e Vitara supports digital key functionality, allowing users to unlock and start the vehicle using their smartphone. Temporary access can be shared with family members or friends, with time limits and driving permissions.

Driver profiles add another layer of personalisation. Seat position, climate preferences, infotainment settings, and driving modes automatically adjust based on who enters the car, making it practical for households with multiple drivers.

Smartwatch Smartwatch

Large infotainment display with OTA updates

At the centre of the cabin sits a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The interface focuses on EV-specific information such as real-time power usage, regenerative braking data, and energy flow visuals.

Over-the-air updates ensure that software improvements, new features, and bug fixes can be delivered remotely, reducing service visits while keeping the system current throughout ownership.

AI voice assistant and smart navigation

An onboard AI-powered voice assistant allows drivers to control navigation, climate settings, music, window operation, and connected features using natural voice commands. It supports multiple Indian accents and contextual responses for smoother everyday interaction.

Navigation is optimised for electric driving, factoring in charging stops, traffic conditions, and energy consumption to provide accurate arrival range estimates.

ADAS and safety technology

The e Vitara comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. These features work together to reduce fatigue in traffic-heavy conditions and add an extra safety layer on highways.

A 360-degree camera system, parking sensors, and automated parking assistance further simplify urban driving and tight parking spaces.

A software-first electric experience

With features such as smartwatch connectivity, digital keys, AI voice control, OTA updates, and EV-focused navigation, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara positions itself as more than just an electric SUV. It reflects a shift towards connected mobility where software plays as important a role as hardware, aiming to make electric driving more intuitive, efficient, and integrated into daily digital life.
