LG has announced its 2026 LG gram laptop lineup from Seoul, and the brand is trying something different this year. The focus is still on portability, but instead of only talking about lightweight builds, LG is highlighting a new material called Aerominum. The idea is simple — laptops that are light usually end up feeling delicate, and laptops that are strong usually get heavy. LG claims Aerominum is its attempt to break that pattern by offering a metallic body that doesn’t add extra weight, but still holds up better against scratches and daily use. The new laptops will be shown at CES 2026, which means more details will likely roll out once the event begins.
Along with design, LG is also leaning into AI and device connectivity. Some models will support Microsoft’s Copilot+ features, while LG is adding its own assistant called gram chat, which runs directly on the laptop. That means it can respond even when the device isn’t connected to the internet. LG is also adding a feature called gram Link, which works like a bridge between the laptop and multiple devices — Android phones, iPhones, and even LG TVs or monitors that run on webOS. There’s also a security layer through LG ThinQ, which can remotely lock or erase the laptop if needed.
Specs and features
The LG gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) comes with a 17-inch WQXGA LCD display that has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. LG says the body size is closer to what we usually see on 16-inch laptops, even though the screen is larger. The laptop runs on the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 GPU, which includes 8GB of GDDR7 memory. This GPU is built to handle graphics-heavy tasks like video editing, design software, and even gaming. Despite packing RTX graphics, LG is still calling it the lightest in its size category. The laptop is also built for multitasking, especially workloads that involve AI processing or large creative applications.
Then there’s the LG gram Pro 16 (16Z90U). It gets a 16-inch WQXGA+ OLED display, offering 2880 x 1800 pixels resolution. OLED means deeper contrast, sharper colors, and better viewing angles compared to standard LCD panels. This model is powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, which are Intel’s newer chips designed for improved performance and efficiency. LG says this is the lightest 16-inch laptop in its class that supports both on-device AI and cloud AI. The gram chat assistant on this model is powered by LG’s upgraded EXAONE 3.5 small language model, a compact AI system that works privately on the laptop, without needing to send data online.
For connectivity, both models support gram Link, which enables file sharing and screen mirroring across Android, iOS, and LG webOS devices like TVs and projectors. For security, LG ThinQ allows remote locking or data wiping in case the laptop is lost or stolen.
