Apple has begun rolling out its latest wave of software updates, with version 26.3 now available across much of its device lineup. New updates include watchOS 26.3 for Apple Watch, tvOS 26.3 for Apple TV, visionOS 26.3 for Vision Pro, and macOS 26.3 for Macs.
According to Apple’s official release notes, the emphasis this time is firmly on reliability rather than new features. watchOS 26.3 is described simply as including “improvements and bug fixes” for Apple Watch, while tvOS 26.3 and HomePod 26.3 focus on “performance and stability improvements”.
That approach is typical for Apple’s early-cycle updates. Major feature additions are usually saved for later releases, with iOS, iPadOS and macOS 26.4 widely expected to introduce more visible changes, including long-awaited AI upgrades to Siri.
For now, Apple appears to be prioritising stability, using the 26.3 updates to iron out issues and create a more solid base ahead of those larger releases.
On the Mac side, macOS 26.3 is particularly understated. The update consists largely of under-the-hood changes and system refinements, and carries the build number 25D125.
Despite its quiet nature, the update does offer a few clues about what may be coming next. macOS 26.3 contains references to unreleased Apple Silicon chips, widely believed to be the M5 Max and M5 Ultra, which are expected to power a future MacBook Pro refresh.
Notably, there is no mention of an M5 Pro chip in the internal code seen in the macOS 26.3 release candidate. That omission has fuelled speculation that Apple may be planning to merge the M5 Pro and M5 Max into a single chip variant, though the company has not commented on its future silicon strategy.
The macOS update is also likely to arrive alongside Xcode 26.3, which introduces support for agentic coding workflows. These include tools such as OpenAI’s Codex and Anthropic’s Code agent, features aimed at helping developers automate and streamline parts of the software development process.
