WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for iPhone users that adds convenience to everyday communication. The latest iOS version, 25.25.74, introduces message reminders, giving users the ability to set alerts on specific messages. First launched on Android, the option is now arriving on iOS, making WhatsApp a more practical tool for handling personal and professional commitments.

How message reminders work
The update allows users to attach a reminder to any individual or group message. By opening the action menu, a reminder can be set using preset intervals of two hours, eight hours or one day. For users who prefer flexibility, a custom date and time option is also available. This makes the feature particularly helpful for remembering deadlines, meetings or personal tasks without the need for third-party apps.

Once a reminder has been created, a small bell icon appears in the message bubble. At the scheduled time, WhatsApp sends a notification that includes the full message text, a media preview if present, and the chat name. Users do not need to scroll through conversations to locate the original message, as everything is presented directly in the notification. This design ensures reminders are quick to set and easy to act upon.

WhatsApp Message Reminders: What you need to know

A crucial part of the feature is the way WhatsApp manages privacy. All reminders are stored locally on the device, with no access granted to WhatsApp or its parent company Meta. Once a reminder has been triggered, it is cleared automatically to keep chats uncluttered. This approach balances utility with user privacy, ensuring sensitive information remains on the device.

Until now, many iPhone users relied on separate apps or workarounds to track important conversations. By embedding reminders directly into WhatsApp, the platform becomes more than just a messaging service. It transforms into a lightweight productivity tool that helps users stay on top of tasks without leaving the app. Whether it is a work message about a meeting or a personal note from a family member, reminders ensure nothing important slips through.

According to WaBetaInfo, the feature is currently available only to a limited number of iOS users, but a wider release is expected in the coming weeks. Those who already have access will find it a valuable addition to daily communication.

In a world where WhatsApp often serves as the primary hub for both work and personal exchanges, message reminders represent a natural progression. By combining practicality with privacy, the feature makes the platform even more integral to how people manage their lives.
